John Mayer Tone

Victoria Reverberato

It is my bias opinion that Victoria Reverberato is the most important part of John's rig. And many other player's rig, for that matter! To me, the sweetness it adds to the signal is reminiscent of the same mojo provided by the original Maestro Echoplex EP2. Plug the Reverberato into the front of any amplifier and that amplifier simply sounds better. The sweetness, again to my ears, is more important to the signal than any other component. It seems to make the entirety of the sound more coherent and "like it is supposed to sound".

Alessandro DRRI vs Ceriatone

Thoughts on Alessandro DRRI vs Ceriatone JM50? Is one a better route to go for the Mayer tone? If they are that close, what are some considerations with who might want to go the Ceriatone route vs Alessandro DRRI route?

Bonus points for Alessandro DRRI vs Milkman thoughts.

That's the exact mod I'm talking about in my video (bass jumper). I have both wgs and celestion. They sound pretty close to each other but I feel like WGS ET65 is better. I am also enjoying a two rock style 2x12 cab mixed with a WGS ET65 + WGS Veteran 30. Really fills the tone spectrum for a well rounded and clear guitar cab. I don't use FX loops at all. The amps are clean so putting the reverb pedal in front of the amp is fine with me. For my best setups, I'll have the SSS reverb on and if I need more reverb, I'll just have a reverb pedal on in front of the amp for extra fill. The SSS style reverb doesn't get in the way of other reverbs in the signal.
